Writers Conference provides 4th-5th grade students an authentic and meaningful writing experience.

Beginning in January 2015, students will be working in small "Writers' Groups," which will allow students to begin gaining feedback on their writing immediately, helping to strengthen the writing and preparing students for the small group that will take place at Writers Conference. Writers' Groups will have six sessions before the day of the conference.
What will students be doing during the Writers' Group sessions?
* Students will learn about the process of talking about the work of others (listening & contributing feedback to peers)
* Students will actively record feedback from others in feedback log
* Changes to work will be highlighted by recording changes in feedback log
* Feedback log - On a dated log, students will write down what others suggest to change/revise/edit, students will document what changes were made

Writers Conference this year will take place on Wednesday, April 29, 2015.
- Emphasizes the process and craft of writing
- Allows students to focus on pre and post writing processes
- Students will plan, revise, edit, incorporate feedback and rewrite their work
- Conference allows students to gain experience in writing as a shared activity
- Act as readers for their peers’ works
- Learn how to polish their own and others' work through feedback and critical editing with peers, teachers, and volunteer writing professionals.

Writers Conference this year will take place on Wednesday, April 29, 2015.
- Morning begins with small group sessions with group leader. All group leaders are professionals who live in and around the community, and use writing in their careers.
- The morning session is followed by lunch. The lunch session will begin with a speech from the Keynote Speaker, who will be one of the group leaders.
- Lunch will end with small group & leader follow-up discussions at tables.
